Members of the United Way Western Information Network (aka: UWWIN) have collectively decided to join the Upic Solutions information/technology collaboration serving the United Way market in the U.S.A. Collectively, the combined organizations provide application hosting, information processing and related technology services to over 20% of the United Way staff domestically and represent the single largest provider of technology services to the United Way movement.

Several UWWIN members share their perspective on the upcoming move to Upic Solutions:

“In Silicon Valley, our technology expectations are high, so we’re delighted that Upic offers such a sophisticated product/service line.  And it’s particularly comforting for us to know that as we dissolve the United Way Western Information Network our peers out here will be well served.”

—Carole Leigh Hutton, President & CEO,  United Way Silicon Valley, San Jose, CA

We’ve been served well by UWWIN the past few years and are sorry to see that relationship come to an end.  At the same time, we’re excited about the prospect of working with Upic, an organization we’ve only been able to admire from a distance up to now. Upic’s breadth and depth of knowledge and experience—not to mention its strong reputation for customer service—will help take our operations to the next level.”

—Steve Heath, President & CEO, United Way California Capital Region, Sacramento, CA

“As we continue to grow and evolve, we see the opportunity to move services to Upic a positive one that will allow us to expand our network and increase our resources.  Working together, the staff of UWWIN and Upic have prepared for a seamless transition, eliminating any fears of the upcoming switch.”

—Mike Kallhoff, President & CEO, United Way of the Wine Country, Santa Rosa, CA

“In the complex United Way world positive partnerships with other United Ways can be one of an organization’s strongest components for success. United Way of Ventura County is excited about this new, exciting and positive partnership with the professional team at Upic.”

—David M. Smith, President & CEO, United Way of Ventura County, Camarillo, CA

“We have become accustomed to excellent IT support through our relationship with the United Way Western Information Network over the past 5 years and it is clear that Upic will be raising the bar even higher for our software support and network access.   We look forward to becoming part of a much larger system and benefiting from the synergy of so many local United Ways.”

—Mary Adams, President & CEO, United Way of Monterey County, Monterey, CA

“It’s been a pleasure to work with the UWWIN group over the past few years to productively solve issues we all face.  I’m looking forward to the next steps as we collectively join and move forward with Upic Solutions”.

—Karen Barsell, CEO & President, United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra, Reno, NV

Through the new combination, Upic will open a West Coast office and expand its member services (technical help desk) hours until 9:00 pm Eastern time effective, April 1, 2012.  Current UWWIN members have agreed to transition to Upic’s commercial data center during April 2012 and UWWIN will formally cease operations on June 30, 2012.  United Way Silicon Valley, UWWIN’s founding member, will join the Upic board later this spring.
